Distant fell views, a roaring wood burner and a cosy interior make this a proper two-person bolthole. No hot tub here but the en-suite spa bath makes up for it.

Ambleside is a market town with independent shops, pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. The pier offers cruises on Lake Windermere. Walking routes start from the front door Loughrigg, Wansfell and the Fairfield Horseshoe are all within reach. Grasmere, Grizedale Forest and Coniston Water are all under 10 miles away.

Amber Cottage sleeps 2 in one king-size bedroom with a cast iron bedframe and fell views. The open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner has a tiled floor, breakfast bar, Smart TV and wood burner. The en-suite has a spa bath with overhead shower.

Stock Ghyll Force is a short walk away. Grasmere is 4 miles. Windermere town is 5 miles. A parking permit for one car is included.
