Ambleside is one of the Lake District's most well-connected villages. Walk straight from the door onto fells and footpaths. Waterhead Pier on Lake Windermere is under a mile away. Rydal Water is 2.5 miles out. Grasmere is just 4 miles. You genuinely don't need a car to enjoy this location.

Inside there are three bedrooms sleeping four. A king-size room in the attic features exposed beams and a dormer window. The first-floor double has an en-suite shower room. A single bedroom completes the layout. The open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area has a roaring open fire. The kitchen is granite-fitted with a dishwasher and washer/dryer included.

Go Ape at Grizedale Forest, the Ambleside climbing wall, paddleboarding on Windermere and Dove Cottage in Grasmere (4 miles, 10 mins) are all within easy reach. Rydal Caves (2.5 miles, 8 mins) are worth the short trip.
