Westhill House Reviews

Heather
Beautifully presented spacious house with spectacular garden. Spotlessly clean and well equipped.Secondary glazing to front windows. We had no problem parking very near the house.Central location in village.
We had such a wonderful stay at Westhill feeling at home immediately. A beautiful spacious cottage with everything you could need for a holiday. Best of all the spring sunshine allowed us to use the fabulous garden space. Would love to return.

We were a group of 3 adults who stayed here for 3 nights in December 2025. We absolutely loved the area and the cottages position within the beautiful little town of Warkworth. The cottage was well equipped and beautifully presented. The only two things we would flag are that the three bedrooms are on the Main Street side of the cottage and it is a busy road and traffic starts at 6am. It was certainly not a sleep in sort of place and all 3 of us really noticed the traffic volume on a morning. This is not a criticism just something worth noting. Secondly we found the lack of dry fire wood frustrating. The real fire is an important part of a winter experience in a cottage like this and only a small amount of wood was left outside and it was wet. We ended up having to buy 2 bags of logs and kindling which when you are paying a premium nightly fee to stay here just doesnt feel right. Still . we would emphasise its a lovely place to stay.
Loved this house. Centrally based in Warkworth. Garden ideal for the dog being fully enclosed. The house is tastefully decorated and well stocked. We'll be back without a doubt.
This is a lovely cottage in a great location. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and a good match for our needs. It would have been really helpful to have hand soap in the kitchen. The log burner was a lovely feature and although there were plenty of logs to last for our stay there was no kindling and so difficult to get started until we had the chance to buy some the next day.

Westhill house was not only clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed but the location was perfect for our adventures around Northumberland, and locally enjoyed Bertrams for breakfast and The Masons for a pint or two. Our favourites parts of the house were the log fire, the huge bath, and the beautiful garden. Although no designated parking space we got a space on the road outside every day.
Lovely clean and spacious accommodation, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, accurately described by Sykes. Garden was beautiful, as we visited in November we couldnt make the most of it, it would have been perfect to sit out in the summer. We had a very well stocked welcome package. The only improvement I could suggest is it would have been nice to have had soap in the bathrooms and some washing up liquid, however these were easily purchased at the village store. Convenient location for scenic riverside walks and for visiting places of interest such as Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and Alnwick. The masons arms provided good food at good prices.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Westhill House. It was very well equipped warm and comfortable. The garden is absolutely beautiful and because the weather was good we managed to spend time in it. Lovely walks straight from the door. Thank you!
A lovely stay in a spacious and attractive house. Garden is lovely with usable outdoor space. Location is great . Only down side for us was the busy road outside, and sometimes not being able to park as close to the property as we would have liked when we had to get a 1 year old in and out the car.
Thank you for a wonderful stay at Westhill House which wonderfully exceeded our expectations. It is beautifully furnished both inside and out making it a delightful location to relax. Within the village its situated close to the castle and in the heart of the amenities. Warkworth beach is an absolute must and was the perfect location for an early morning dog walk. Absolutely idyllic and definitely want to return.
The house was perfect. From the fabulous welcome box to the facilities. Everything was perfect. We had an amazingly relaxed and peaceful stay. The garden is amazing and we were short of nothing. Perfect spot to enjoy the area.
Was a beautiful property, the garden was absolutely stunning. Everything was lovely. The only recommendations not complaints are that the single bedroom needs a wardrobe and downstairs could easily have a toilet plumbed in under the stairs. Also we moved and dried off the 12moon outside dining cushions as they were soaked wet through, they could go in summer house or need covers.

An absolutely stunning property, beautiful garden with glimpses of the river through the trees and of course the view of the castle, which is situated about 50 metres away. Warkworth is a gorgeous village with plenty of pubs and restaurants and only a 25 minute walk to a fantastic beach. I feel lucky to have found such a lovely house to stay in.
Richard
Lovely property in a great location. Very comfortable and spacious with a beautiful garden. The location is great for local walks and a springboard to the coast. The single bedroom is a little barren compared to the other areas of the property needs a bedside light at least.
My sisters were Very happy with the property especially the garden. A couple of housekeeping issues but nothing important.Would definitely go back I couldnt make it for family reasons,
Steven
A very comfortable and clean house with excellent outdoor seating areas and a safe garden for our dog. The weather was good and we had breakfast on the patio every morning. There were great local walks and we enjoyed many meals out. Bertrams and The Masons Arms were superb along with The Fish Shack at Amble. We would love to stay at Westhill House again. Thanks!
Brilliant place to be in a great location
Great cottage, beautiful, great layout and spaces, clean and all amenities you would want. We were family of 4, 2 kids aged 5&3 and was perfect. Great location on high street. 10 Min walk to beach, lots of pubcafe restaurants,
Melvin
The accommodation was lovely. Very comfortable. Would definitely recommend. Appreciated the goodies provided by the owners.....thank you. A slight criticism. We were a bit confused about the bin collection and recyclement facilities as it was bin day when we left. The information provided suggested that they would be collected very early, but they weren't, so we couldn't take the empty bins back. We had to leave them out to comply with the time that we had to vacate the property. Also, we took glass items home with us as there was no facility for them. We had a lovely stay and I put an entry in the guest book stating that the property was a credit to the owners. We would definitely go there again.
Shirley
What a fabulous house! Very comfortable, beautifully furnished and extremely clean. The garden was fantastic and with the Castle backdrop was stunning to sit in the autumn sunshine. No private parking but there was plenty of on street parking available.
Great property, plenty of room, comfortable and well stocked. Lovely garden and ideally situated to enjoy warkworth and the surrounding area. Would love to come back to stay in the future.

A truly wonderful property in a picturesque village , the cottage caters for your every need One very small moan maybe a couple of new mattresses wouldnt go a miss but this wouldnt stop us from booking again which we will do
No cleaning materials on arrival. Housekeeping had omitted to leave any bin bags or dishwasher tablets no cleaning box. No spare toilet rolls in either bathroom. It took numerous phone calls 3 to get any positive response to resolving issue. We arrived Friday pm no cleaning box or spare toilet rolls until Monday pm. Kitchen floor had standing water on arrival, not moppedup by housekeeping dangerous. Dishwasher had broken parts lying in the dishwasher on arrival. For a property which costs over 1000 to rent for a week this was an unacceptable standard, Customer service response from Sykes was poor. Called immediately on Friday pm and the response of housekeeping do not work weekends so you will have to wait until MOnday, when they have not prepared the property for occupation on the Friday, is simply not good enough. I doubt we will book with Sykes NorthumbriaCottages again based on this experience unless we have no other option.
Frances
Lovely cottage and great location. Have visited the area many times and this cottage was perfect for a family of 4. Warkworth is a lovely village with good pubs, cafes and restaurants. Close to great beaches especially Warkworth & Alnmouth. Property was clean and comfy however it would benefit from a deep clean and a bit of a spruce up in areas, which is expected with a property of this age.
Beautiful house in a great location. Perfect for a family holiday. Everything we needed, fully equipped kitchen. Garden is lovely and great for sunny play days. There are some great pubs in the village. Beaches are safe, clean and perfect for walking or family day trip. Bathrooms are luxurious and everything was very clean on arrival. One small issue we had was that the plug on the main family bathroom bath is eroding so you couldn't keep the tub filled. Didn't bother us as the shower is great. Will definitely be booking another break away at this please. We loved it!

We absolutely loved the house and the garden was a great bonus especially for our border terrier Although there was no designated parking we had no trouble finding a space close by which was also really handy Never visited Northumberland before but we will definitely be coming back and this was a great place to stay for exploring the area
Elizabeth
We booked this property as we are 2 couples and the cottage was advertised as having 2 TVs so we thought this would be conveniant if somone wanted to watch somthing different. We then found there was no second TV? the interior was first class but the garden was very neglected in parts this was a disapointment.
Claire
Really lovely property. Well kitted out and maintained. Beautiful garden and very clean and tidy. Welcome pack was very well thought out too. Has everything you could possible need for a very comfortable stay in a great location.
Richard

Excellent property and wonderful location , the village of Warkworth is fantastic , great beaches nearby Parking bit of an issue but doesnt detract from the overall property Fan in large bathroom rattles when windy A current 2024 recycling chart wouldnt go amiss Would definitely stay there again
Super holiday property. Great location. Everything was spot on!
We had a fabulous stay at Westhill over Christmas. The house is lovely and clean, kitchen is really well equipped with a large range cooker perfect for Christmas dinner. The fire in the tv room is lovely and makes it a really cosy room. We would definitely stay again.
A lovely comfortable house in a nice location with an added bonus of a lovely garden to sit out in. The kitchen was very well equipped but I felt it was let down, a bit, by the generic welcome pack from Out of Eden. A pint of milk in the fridge, some Northumbrian teacoffee and a packet of local biscuits would be much nicer. Can definitely recommend the Mason Arms for a pint and some good pub grub and the obligatory visit to Spurrelis in Amble for icecream Also discovered, this time, was the Drift Cafe in Cresswell and Brewis Beer in Amble which does nice street food at the weekend Been coming to Northumberland for 10 years now but this was our first visit to Warkworth and we will definitely be back.
