The Byre at Warkworth Reviews

We had a lovely weeks holiday at the Byre. Accommodation was very good and ideally situated. Walking distance to restaurants, pubs and the beach. Plenty of places to visit within a short drive. Amble and Alnwick both within 5 miles had plenty of shops.
We had a very enjoyable stay at The Byre. The owners were very helpful and made sure we were comfortable. The cottage was clean, warm and well equipped. A short walk to a lovely beach and close to the pretty village of Warkworth. Perfect location to explore Northumberland. We really appreciated the welcome pack. The lemon cake was delicious!
Angela
The Byre is warm, stylish, comfortable, spotlessly clean and incredibly well equipped! The location is quiet yet convenient, with beaches, pubs, eateries and shops within easy walking distance. Chris & Elizabeth are the perfect hosts helpful and friendly, but never intrusive. They left us an extremely generous welcome hamper, which we thoroughly enjoyed! Chris even went out of his way to rescue us as we struggled to find the property on a dark, stormy evening, getting saturated in the process! Having stayed at numerous cottages over the years we can say, with certainty, that this is our absolute favourite! Very dog friendly too!

Lovely cottage, great location, bit difficult to find and tight turn into the drive but was an option to come in via the small caravan site, was met by Chris and his two labs on arrival, hosts were very helpful and the welcome pack was lovely, our dog lily enjoyed her stay and some great days out, Walkworth was lovely and the beach great for the dog Cottage was lovely and warm and comfortable, overall very happy with the Brye
We really enjoyed our stay at the Byre, the location is superb with a wonderful beach walk only minutes away and Warkworth village a pleasant stroll. Access from the main road is difficult and the back entrance through the small caravan site is the better option. The accomodation is very comfortable, the underfloor heating keeping it cosy but the bedroom is rather cramped. The TV could do with updating but all other appliances were good. The hosts were friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We will certainly use the Byre again.
Stuart
We had an excellent stay at the Byre. The property was well equipped and very comfortable. The owners were friendly and helpful and the welcome pack wine, cake, bread milk, butter and chocolates was high quality and did not last very long. Thoroughly recommended.
Christopher
Fabulous cottage with absolutely everything you would need for a comfortable stay in this fantastic part of the world. The owners have thought of everything, the cottage is beautiful, well appointed, spotlessly clean and has its own private patio for those alfresco drinks and eats. The village is with easy walking distance has a couple of good pubs and nice restaurants and the cottage is within a nice stroll of the sandy beach. This is a great location to base an explore of the wider area including Bamburgh, Seahouses etc. We would highly recommend a stay at The Byre and we hope to be back soon. Chris and Julie.
The Byre was a great choice for us 2 adults 1 dog, very clean and well maintained with everything we needed for a loverly peaceful week away. Beach 10 mins, centre of Warkworth 10mins easy access to the area in general. Owners Chris and Elizabeth were always available if required especially with information about the area. The very good welcome pack also helped to ensure this is definitely one property on our return list.
Sylvia
Lovely property in a good location with a 10 minute walk to the amazing beach and a similar distance into Warkworth Very well equipped and the best welcome pack weve ever experienced nice to have local products. Will definitely be returning highly recommend !
Property is excellently located. Despite quite small, very well equipped, nice welcome pack. The property is located in the owners garden, which understandably means its not completely private. However, the owners are both friendly and welcoming. Our disappointment with the property was the smallness of the main bedroom. Not easy to get in and out of bed. The bed mattress is probably ready for replacing as it isnt the comfiest. Overall, its a nice property, but, because of the bedroom, not one wed use again.
A reading lamp would have been appreciated.
Lovely, cute, holiday cottage. Good location for access to other areas of Northumberland. 10 minute walk to a beautiful beach, great for dogs! No need to take anything but personal items as the cottage is so well equipped everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Friendly, welcoming hosts. A lovely place to stay. Thank you Chris & Elizabeth.
Our 2nd stay at The Byre. Great accommodation, everything proved for a relaxing break. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful week's holiday at the Byre. Very comfortable and warm, with the owners' fabulous welcome tray. Beach was in easy reach for dawn dogwalking and Cissy the poodle wasn't the only person that didn't want to come home!
Francesca
The Byre is a wonderful cottage, its is well equipped, comfortable and in a lovely position in Warkworth that you can walk to the beach, into the town for a walk around the Castle or head out to the surrounding areas to explore. Chris and Elizabeth are lovely hosts, very accommodating and kind. The welcome pack on arrival was a super touch and very much appreciated too. It was easy to make ourselves and the dog at home. The kitchen is well equipped and plenty of wood available for the fire. We hope to return again when we are able to make our next visit up to Warkworth and will certainly be recommending to family and friends.
A lovely little property, tastefully decorated and with all necessary comforts. Good base for visiting the surrounding area.
Alison
We had a great stay at The Byre, it was just as described plus a generous welcome pack and somewhere dry to store our bikes. 20 odd minutes walk into the village, 15 minutes to the beach for a swim and right on a traffic free Sustrans route for cycling. Chris made us feel very welcome with lots of recommendations of where to vist for our first trip to Northumberland. We hope to be back.
Suzanne
A fabulous cozy cottage, immaculately clean and very well equipped. Loved the log burner but didnt need to use it often due to the cottage being so warm. Quiet location on the edge of the lovely village of Warkworth. 5 10 minute walk into the village or down to the coastal pathbeach. The cottage is in an excellent location to explore Northumbria, both on foot we enjoyed walks from the cottage to both Amble and Alnmouth and in the car we went as far up as Holy Island. The welcome pack was a real treat with home made cake and chocolates included. The cottage is behind the owners house, they are on hand if you need anything but are not intrusive. One of the best cottages we have stayed in, we would return and definitely recommend to others.
We had a lovely stay. The Byre is warm and welcoming. Everything was provided for a very comfortable holiday. The cleanliness was second to none. Delicious cake and chocolates were a real treat. Would not hesitate to recommend this property. Very dog friendly beach walks just a few minutes away. Lots of great dog friendly eating places near by Bertrams in Warkworth is outstanding, Elizabeth and Chris and their gorgeous doggies were excellent hosts. Thank you for a lovely stay we hope to return soon.
Absolutely loved The Byre. Very cosy, extremely well equipped and clean. The owners were very welcoming and provided a fantastic welcome pack full of local and homemade products. A perfect base to explore the magnificent coastline. Would definitely revisit.
Perfect property for exploring this beautiful part of Northumberland with your dog. Very comfortable, well equipped cottage with very friendly hosts . This was our second visit and would love to come back.
Ideal property looking forward to next time
Probably the best holiday let we've ever stayed in. ...& we've stayed in a lot!! Super clean, superb hosts, brilliant location, beautifully decorated, every facility you would want. Oh, and the welcome hamper was fabulous, bread, milk, wine, butter, chocolates and the best lemon drizzle cake we've ever had. Cant wait to go back!
Had a great stay at The Byre. Everything we needed was at hand. Chris and Elizabeth couldn't have been more obliging. Situated in a great place for sightseeing. Welcome pack was much appreciated too.
What a lovely place to stay! The Byre is beautifully furnished, had everything you could need and was full of quirky touches. Chris and Elizabeth are excellent hosts and couldnt have been more helpful, the welcome hamper was great! Thank you! The walk into the village or to the beach took about 10 minutes. Im quite sure that well be back!
We spent 5 wonderful days at The Byre. Everything we could have wished for was there. It was such a relaxing place in a brilliant location 5 minutes walk to the beach and easy to drive to many places. Highly recommended!
Lovely well appointed cottage. Dog friendly and walking distance to Warkworth beach. Lovely welcome pack from our host.
So enjoyed our week in this very comfortable and cosy well equipped cottage. Perfect location for beach walks with your dog. Hosts very friendly and the welcome basket was brilliant.
We were welcomed at The Byre by the owners. Cakemilkbreadbutterwine had all been provided for us. Initially the property was a bit chilly but this was soon rectified and the lovely log burner with unlimited wood available was a valuable addition to a windy, wet week. The Byre was spotlessly clean with a comfortable double bed, loads of hot water and ample parking. There are nice walks to Alnmouth and Amble and Cragside and Alnwick are easily driveable.
William
A very nice property and we had a lovely week. The owners were very thoughtful and when the weather turned stormy they were there to assist if required
Cheryl
Very quiet location, ideal for exploring local areas. The Byre was cosy with a private courtyard that was ideal for our elderly dog to wander about in safety. Very friendly hosts providing good facilities and a super welcoming pack.
Barrie
A super cottage owned by wonderfully kind people, a fabulous welcome pack which included a iced cake which was too die for. So easy dog walks directly from rge cottage. A huge thanks to Chris and Margaret
We loved our stay at the Byre. Comfortable and very well kitted out. Great location for both beach and sightseeing further afield. Lovely welcome pack too. Much enjoyed the bread and cake and grateful for a fridge with basics to get us started. Very helpful hosts on site.
Just fantastic! A real home from home, we felt very comfortable from the first minute. The property was spotless, well equipped, with a beautiful outside patio to enjoy a glass of wine on. Its only 10 mins walk to a very quiet sandy beach and into Warkworth centre with numerous coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. Youve then got a beautiful coastline to explore. All in all a very chilled week, Chris and Elizabeth were perfect hosts, we fully intend to visit again.
The Byre is a very comfortable set in very peaceful surroundings. The cottage had everything we could need, and the welcome basket was very good including wine, artisan chocolates and homemade cake! The owners are very helpful, with lots of useful knowledge on the area. We would definitely recommend the property, and would return ourselves if visiting the area in the future.
Best accommodation we have stayed in and a new area for us to visit, all in all a great holiday.
Charles
We spent a lovely week at the Brye. Elizabeth and Chris were both delightful, and knowledgeable about the area. We found the accommodation to have everything we needed for our stay, especially the lovely courtyard garden which was bathed with sunshine and lovely and private ,a great place to read. We loved Warkworth, walking around it and along by the river which is beautiful.
