Castle View (Warkworth) Reviews

We all really enjoyed our stay at Castle View. The house is clean, tidy and comfortable. We all slept well. In great location with parking right outside the gate. Would definitely love to return and would have no hesitation to recommend to family and friends.
Great location cosy and warm beds super comfy all you needed to cook meals ... Great location cosy and warm beds super comfy all you needed to cook meals village pubs lovely beach incredible and dog friendly all year round Great wals to amble and Alnmouth definitely recommend castle view
We very much enjoyed our stay at Castle View. It's a characterful property, with unbeatable views right up into the keep of Warkworth Castle. The beds were comfy. We also enjoyed some cosy time reading in front of the fire in the living room. The upstairs shower is pretty good. The rear garden is fully enclosed. Nice to have a separate dining room. Locationwise, all the pubs and restaurants of Warkworth are a short walk away. We had a good pub meal at The Mason's Arms, a sunday lunch at the Hermitage and a cracking brunch at Bertrams. I also used the evening dog walk as an excuse to visit the pub for a quick one. The Sun, just a few yards away does Hawkstone. There's a fab ice cream place called Morwick Dairy just outside the village. For shopping, there's a useful Morrisons in Amble a few miles away. There's also a big Marks and Spencers in Alnwick. The local village shop is quite good for basics, but it has restricted opening. It's lovely walking down by the river here. As for the beach, oh my it's just the best! You can drive up there in minutes or walk. And if you don't like that beach there are loads of others in the area. Bamburgh beach takes some beating.
Unfortunately whilst the majority of the cottage inside was nice, the downstairs shower room was totally inadequate. The sink leaked, difficult to use the shower or toilet due to the position. The garden furniture needed TLC as did the garden itself, cobwebs all over the windows outside, treesbushes needed cutting back. Not at all pleasant to sit outside at the back of the property. Very little space in the twin bedroom due to the enormous wardrobe which only had hanging space, better if that was moved to the double room and one of the two sets of drawers moved into the twin. Having said that Warkworth is lovely with ample restaurantspubs, beautiful beach and walks along the river.

We have just come home from Castle View and had a wonderful week in Warkworth. The location of the house was amazing. Set back off the main stretch and a walk to the beach. We loved that the house felt really homely. We have an autistic son so we spent quite a bit of time in the house. We were able to cook meals in the well equipped kitchen. The appliances arent super modern if thats your thing but everything worked perfectly and was super clean. Our dog and son loved the garden space which is shady. We sat out to read and it was very peaceful. We only needed two bedrooms but all rooms were comfortable some blackout curtains would have helped but not an issue. Lovely shower upstairs we didnt use the downstairs one. Overall we would highly recommend this house. Lovely location and convenient for beach and castle!
Beautiful home which is spotlessly clean & very comfortable. It has everything you need a real home from home. Located in a quiet position yet still only minutes away from centre of village. I have stayed in many properties in the area over the years & this ranks as one of the best. Hopefully will return again in the future.
A lovely spacious cottage, very clean and comfortable. Beds were exceptionally comfortable. Great location too.
The oven and skirting board in the bathroom issues shared with the owner. Otherwise the house was clean and warm, could be more generous with toilet rolls and dishwasher tabs. The dishwasher was a little small for four. The owners were helpful and friendly when my car broke down outside and very keen on feedback.
The rear of the property faces east and as such gets very little sunlight making the lounge dark and cold in the late morning and afternoon. The garden of the property to the right as you look down the garden is very overgrown and the ivy is now encroaching onto this property and round the bedroom window. The trees at the rear are very tall and thus block out the sunlight. The garden has not been maintained and the grass was very long. In our opinion the garden was not fit for purpose and certainly not somewhere where you would want to sit. There were a couple of issues regarding the kitchen. No kitchen scissors or tongs and no tin foil or cling film minor items we appreciate but would have been nice to have. The dishwasher needed salt and rinse aid and was therefore not cleaning the pots. The rubber seal on the oven door was broken. When we came to use the hoover it left a horrible smell and presumably needed the bag emptying but we couldn't find any spare bags. Whilst we accept these are issues that might not bother other people they are things that we have not encountered before. Sadly we would not return. On a positive note Warkworth is a beautiful village and both the Masons Arms and Bertrams are definitely well worth a visit for good food. The walk along the riverbank and to the beach made this holiday.
Good location for exploring Northumbria. Well equipped, comfortable property.

Lovely clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation in a beautiful part of Warkworth. The perfect place for when you want to recharge your batteries and relax.
This was our third visit to Castle View. We absolutely love it and cant wait to come back again. There were four of us and our Labrador. The property is always spotlessly clean, comfortable and homely, as well as being superbly situated. We couldnt ask for anything more, and certainly dont have any complaints. The welcome pack is always gratefully received, thank you. Thanks again for a perfect holiday.
A lovely characterful cottage, very clean, comfortable and well equipped, set in a tranquil position just a few minutes walk from both a beautiful riverside walk and the centre of Warkworth with its quaint shops and restaurants. Also good parking and an easy drive to many nearby attractions. Would definitely love to return thank you.
Beautiful cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Home from home. Would definitely stay again.
Caroline
Lovely house in a good location in the village. Close to river and the main street but very quiet. We had Christmas here and the house had lovely decorations as well as a tree. We were very comfortable and cosy here.
Spotlessly clean, comfortable and homely. Ideally located in the centre of Warkworth, within a few minutes walk of the local pubs and shops. Warkworth beach is an easy walk as it is just under a mile away. You can also have a lovely walk beside the River Coquet to Amble, which is also just a mile away.
This is a lovely, clean, comfortable, spacious and wellequipped cottage in a great location. We had a wonderful stay.
Comfortable, clean and a superb location. Some lovely places to visit and we appreciated the dog bowls, towel and toy. Many by places are just dog tolerant and not really dog friendly. We will certainly look to visit here again.
Castle View is a superb place to stay with breathtaking views of Warkworth Castle. The village centre is only a few minutes walk away, or you can have a wander to the beach or Amble, which are both only a mile away. The property was extremely clean, comfortable, spacious and homely. We couldn&rsquot have asked for more. Both front and rear gardens were safe and secure for our Labrador. Our welcome pack, along with Henry&rsquos treats, were gratefully received. We were lucky enough to meet the owners on our departure and were able to pass on our thanks personally. We really can&rsquot speak highly enough of Castle View. We will definitely be back. Thank you
A lovely property tastefully decorated and in keeping with the style and age of the property. Great location, and view of the castle. A lovely touch by the owner leaving a decorated Christmas tree. I couldn&39t fault the experience.
Absolutely brilliant long weekend at Castle View Cottage in Warkworth. Such a homely feel to it and well stocked with kitchenware etc. View from the front door was amazing. Warkworth is such a lovely spot and ideal for exploring the coastline. Perfect for a dog as garden is very enclosed. It was the perfect holiday cottage for us.
Excellent location and very well stocked property, well maintained with nice garden.
Beautiful little cottage in a stunning location. Really cosy, has everything you need for your holiday. Warkworth is a gem fantastic walks around the town, along the river and beach.
Good size and very comfortable for a family with a dog. Wonderful location with so much on the doorstep.
