Tomeg Reviews

Christine
House was very cold 11 when I arrived. The boiler was switched off. Spoke to owner who contacted emergency plumber & suggested I follow utube video to rectify. No apology, from the owner, she simply said 'well it was all ok when we were there 2 wks ago' !! Once sorted the house warmed up fairly quickly & stayed warm, but not a good start to my stay. Sofas are torn & scatter cushions marked. Sitting room lamp did not work. Stayers need to be aware that parking is very awkward, I had to reverse down narrow lane to get out & it was made worse by skip being parked part way along. Kitchen equipment wasn't good, e.g. wonky handle on frying pan, complicated microwave & fridge door with only 1 shelf. House felt uncared for, curtain rails a bit dilapidated in sitting room & main bedroom, skirting boards behind beds etc. very dusty. Good location for Amble & surrounds. Easy to walk to the beach, shops eateries.

We had a very pleasant stay at Tomeg. The property was comfortable, well equipped and warm. The location of the property is ideal for access to shops, restaurants and Amble harbour. There were a couple of minor maintenance issues. We raised these with the mobile number provided in the property by text. The issues were, a table lamp not working, one end of a curtain rail in the main bedroom had come loose and the shower head kept sliding down in use. These were only minor issues and did not spoil the holiday.

House needs some time and money spending on it
What a lovely property, really comfortable. A perfect base for all our travels, once we parked the car, we left it there and used the bus. There is a bus stop just outside the house, where we used the bus to go to Alnwick, Warkworth and Seahouses, a very good service. Great pub round the corner, serving great beers and good food, a brilliant week. The house was great as I've said, but I feel it could do with a coffee table or a nest of tables, or both in the living room. A Brilliant Holiday Though and would go back again. Problem with key when we arrived but this was resolved after about an hour. Garden front and back could have been a bit better maintained. Was generally clean but could have been a bit better in kitchen and bathroom. Information Booklet provided could do with some updating. House was comfortable and good location for going out, so enjoyed despite problems.
Tomeg was in a great location in Amble, the kitchen well equipped, everything we needed was there, the car parking space at the back is okay for a small or medium sized car, and is a great bonus as parking near by on the road is very hit and miss. The lounge is large and comfortable, bedrooms are also a good size and comfortable. We are looking forward to returning in 2025
The house is in a very convenient place for the harbour, beach, shops and a good friendly pub called the Wellwood Arms. We found the house very pleasant and airy. The bathroom had a good shower. The main bedroom had a very comfortable bed but the twin bedroom had beds which rattled. Some of the bedroom sockets did not work. The kitchen had a couple of issues. One of the chairs was broken and the set of pans needs to be replaced. With a few tweaks this could be a very good holiday let.
Christine
Our third time staying at Tomeg. We had everything we needed for a nice and relaxed holiday. Close to all the shops, cafes and restaurants on the High Street. Lovely beaches a short drive away.
Positives The location of the property is excellent for access to the amenities in Amble of which there are plenty. Also a good location as a base for exploring surrounding areas. Private parking available at the rear of the property was accessible and there was also the option of parking on the front. The property was well equipped as advertised. Negatives The kitchen hadn't been cleaned to the standard we would normally expect. There were crumbs and a plastic cap from a bottle under the microwave. One of the pans in the cupboard was excessively greasy, and we note this is the same as mentioned in a previous review. Also in the kitchen some boxing in of pipework looked like it was in need of repair. The sofas in the living room are not very comfortable and well past their best. The main bedroom had some decent sized cobwebs which clearly had been there for a while.
Lovely cottage. Very well equipped. Beds were comfortable and everywhere was very clean. It is a pet friendly home but you really wouldn't know this. The parking as in the description was very very tight and I only have a Polo, however we actually only moved the car once in the week we were there as we took advantage of the 2 bus fares on most days. The bus stop to Alnwick is about 40 steps from the house slightly more steps on the way back!. The only one thing I would mention and I did leave a note for the owner, is that the back garden is completely overgrown. It may be the owners are going for a no mow area, but there was nothing to suggest that, and I think the path from the back door to the parking area should be clear. On rainy days you get very wet legs! I think it would be almost impossible to clear up after a pet without going on hands and knees! All in all though a very enjoyable stay. I would definitely return because of the location and facilities.

I loved my 2week stay in Tomeg. The property was cosy, comfortable, wellequipped, good heating, great shower. Fabulous location just on the High Street. Yes, the parking out the back was challenging but manageable if you have good reversing skills! The house is ideally located on the main street, so perfect for walking to the beach and harbour in Amble, which is a beautiful little place and a great little base for exploring the coast of Northumberland and beyond.
Christine
Our 2nd time staying at Tomeg. We liked it so much, we just had to come back! A real home from home with everything needed for a comfortable holiday. Excellent restaurants and shops within walking distance. Close to lots of wonderful beaches.
Nichola
Thank you so much for a fantastic stay. Tomeg is in a brilliant location with just a short walk to the beach and a pub and Coop on the doorstep. The house is spacious and feels wonderfully light and airy. Access to the parking is quite tight but that had been well communicated beforehand. The house is a great base for exploring beautiful Northumberland
Stanley
I found TOMEG a lovely home handy for the shops and surrounding area lovely and clean only problem was the metal bed frames in the front bedroom they creaked every time we moved but apart from that it was a enjoyable stay.
Antony
We loved our stay in Tomeg. The house is clean, ideally placed The Wellwood Arms, Masons Arms, many takeaways and shops are only a short walk away and had everything we needed for a 2 week holiday. The rooms are of a nice size and I'm not quite sure about the noise warning as this was quieter than another place we have stayed in Amble! The conservatory is a nice addition and a good place to dry the washing swimming stuff. The smart TV was a pleasant surprise so you can log into your streaming channels for those quiet evenings in. The only real negative about the house is actually a positive. The parking out back is very tight for an estate car we have a Toyota Corolla Tourer Sport and it does take a bit of work to get it in and out. However, this is a positive in some ways as street parking is also at a premium in Amble and I would rather have it this way than not having a guaranteed spot. Finally, all communication with the owners was answered promptly and professionally and I can not find fault in anything about the house an owners. Thank you Petra, Katherine and Moira for letting us stay in your lovely house.
Caroline
Lovely stay at the 'Tomeg'. Clean & comfortable, central to all the amenities, just what we needed. Amble is beautiful, lots to do and see. Would definitely go back and stay at this property. Owners very accommodating and helpful. It is abit tight for parking round the back of the property but I had a small car so no problems.
We had a lovely stay at Tomeg, cottage was lovely and in an ideal place to ... We had a lovely stay at Tomeg, cottage was lovely and in an ideal place to explore the area, parking was a little tight glad I was only in a mini
Louise
We loved Tomeg, as we did the last time we stayed there. Great location. Comfortable and clean house.
Smashing property very central. Has everything you need.
Jeanette
Great accommodation, as mentioned the parking spot is tricky but overall a great place to stay
Jonathan
Great house, very well equipped, great location for local amenities, and close to some wonderful locations. Highly recommend it
Kathryn
Property was ideally placed for exploring Amble as well as Northumberland beautiful coastline. It was clean & well equipped but getting out of parking space at rear with large car was extremely challenging.
Overall a brilliant holiday. Great house in a lovely location for visiting the beautiful area. would definitely return
Gillian
Tomeg is a lovely holiday home. The accommodation is more than adequate for a family. It is beautifully furnished but suitably and sensibly for a seaside holiday. It is well equipped both in the kitchen and the sitting room where the books and videos are welcome. The conservatory is a great asset for spending time in as well as drying clothes etc. The location of the house couldnt be better for visiting various beaches and places of interest. Shops and restaurants are just round the corner. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again.
We enjoyed a wonderful holiday, the cottage surpassed ou expectations & was the perfect base for exploring Amble & Northumberland. It was in easy distance of all Amble's attractions, particularly for my Father in law with limited mobility. The only tiny gripe was that my Mother in law thought the TV required updating. She apparently struggled to follow the ball whilst watching Wimbledon! Other than that, 10 out of 10.
Debbie
Tomeg is a lovely terraced house perfectly located for all the amenities of Amble. The house has three bedrooms with very comfortable beds and a lovely large bathroom with a bath and separate shower cubicle. The living room could possibly do with an extra chair for the fifth guest but we managed. The kitchen was ok but I would have liked a dishwasher and tumble dryer and perhaps some small drinking glasses as there were either wine glasses or tumblers. I did have to buy a roasting tray as theirs was tiny so Ive left it for future guests. Parking at the rear of the property was a bit of a challenge but I found driving in forwards and reversing out of the narrow path worked for me.The neighbours all parked considerately so it wasnt a problem. Tomeg is on a main road but we didnt have any noise problems and theres a Coop literally over the road. All in all we had a lovely stay in Amble which is a beautiful village that really comes alive on Sundays when the market is on. Warkworth Castle is worth a visit and is only just over a mile away from Tomeg so you can walk along the banks of the river Coquet which has amazing views. Alnwick, Bamburgh and Holy Island are all within an hours drive too. We had a great holiday and would definitely return.
Rebecca
Tomeg is a great base to explore Northumberland. We really enjoyed our stay here. My only slight negative was the house wasn't as clean as I would have liked and the kitchenware could do with an update. Otherwise a lovely place, very comfortable with all the home comforts. Good for a family with young children too.
Hosts friendly and helpful, great cottage
Annette
Bedding and towels were old the same as last year. Not as clean as last year floor was dirty in places.
Louise
Tomeg was a perfect holiday home. The house was clean and comfortable and had all facilities we required. The location close to the town centre and the marina was excellent. We found the neighbours exceptionally friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend Tomeg as a great place to stay in Amble.
Tricia
The accommodation was lovely. Great position, spacious and dog friendly. The house is on the high street and you can walk to Warkworth easily or to the port and the next bay. Lots of cafes in the area. We had a great time
Stephen
Amble is a lovely friendly place, ideal as a base for exploring one of Englands most beautiful, unspoilt counties. Tomeg is a pleasant and comfortable spacious cottage in which to stay.
Great base to explore seemed to be clean when first got there but first time in shower saw hairs on wall and after first night in bed whent to pick pillow up from the floor wall side saw someone's hair tie and bits of food I think it was food, I left it all there. I also had to unblock the fridge drain at bottom to let the water out as it smelt bad.
In a brilliant location, cottage was excellent all you needed in it, excellent for shops, site seeing. Just totally loved it.
Accommadation comfortable and satisfactory but we left early due to bad weather and cold wind, hope to try again later in the year.
