Rivershield Reviews

Weve been to Rivershield several times and it never disappoints. It is comfortable, cosy and well equipped . We came first with our dog Lottie who loved Warkworth and nearby beaches as well as nearby towns. Lots of dog friendly facilities. Lottie sadly died in 2024. This time Cassie our puppy came and loved it. Wonderful Holiday even with bad weather!!
William
Really nice and comfortable holiday house in a great location, a small but perfectly adequate kitchen. We suspect that parking might be an issue in the summer months, however we would gladly return for a future holiday. Perhaps a bucket by the door to wash muddy paws would be a worthwhile addition.
A lovely apartment, stylishly decorated and well located in the beautiful village of Warkworth, which is well served with pubs, restaurants and places to visit nearby. Cragside was a favourite just 40 minutes drive away. The apartment has a huge tv with access to Sky and other apps you can log into. The bed is a good size and is very comfortable. All the appliances you need in the kitchen, including air fryer. The Masons Arms is a few yards away serving good beers and generous portions. It gets very busy, especially at the weekends. Feedback for the owner We had a problem getting the shower to function in waterfall mode and the heating did not automatically come on at any time, so we had to press boost when we got up in the morning and when we came back in the evening. I suggest the settings are checked. The radio and remote control in the kitchen are very greasy and dirty and need cleaning. Otherwise, we had a lovely stay.
This is our second stay at Rivershield. We were very impressed with the upgrading since our first visit. The cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable.Everything you could possibly need was provided and, if you didn't want to cook, the food in The Masons Arms next door was excellent.Situated very near the river and in the centre of the village what more could you want?We had two cars between the four of us and had no trouble parking. We would definitely return.
Norman
Well provisioned accommodation in a great location. Handy for car parking and local eating places and shops.
Elizabeth

Muriel
Really great property, very central with easy access to everything in Warkworth.
Dennis
Stayed in Warkworth on a regular basis for 20 years. Nowhere better than Rivershield.
Richard
Excellent. As described. Well thought out accommodation with all the facilities. In a good location for walking and sightseeing. Good support from the owners. A great holiday base.
Fabulous accommodation. Could not be better.
Well equipped property, clean and well presented. Close to amenities. Would recommend this property
Lesley
A beautiful, modern and tastefully decorated apartment set in the heart of Warkworth village. A superb location and the flat had everything you needed, including the biggest DVD and games selection you could wish for! We would definitely recommend and hope to book again in the near future. The owners were very respectful of our space, despite owning the pub next door and communication was great both for finding the apartment and afterwards when wed left an item behind. Thanks again! We had a wonderful holiday.
Norman
Great central location with plenty of public parking nearby. Very good WiFi, tv and standard of furniture and fittings. Handy for great pub grub at the Masons Arms.
On the whole it was a lovely property but with one or two niggles . Toilet seat needs fixing . Water runs away even with plug in in the washbasin in bathroom . Could always hear the tv from below above ours along with the smell of tobacco smoke coming up
It was the fourth time we have stayed,we always have a lovely stay, the cottage is lovely and modern and situated right in the heart of walkwarth we will be booking again.
Very well equipped comfortable spotless accommodation. Situated in the heart of Warkworth. We would definitely stay here again
Rivershield was better than we anticipated, great location and very comfortable. It was really well equipped, there was nothing we wanted for at all. There were only two of us staying which was great, if we had brought our teenagers with us I think we may have been a little cramped particularly when it came to dining in. However there were some great pubs very close and they are dog friendly and serve excellent meals.
Dennis
We enjoyed a week's breakat at rivershield, the apartment was well equipped and very comfortable, ideally situated in Warkworth, places to eat are within minutes, Masons armes very good. Would recommend this property and will be back need year.
Melanie
Unfortunately the apartment stay was spoilt by the strong smell of stale cigarette smoke which I can only assume was coming up from the apartment below. The clothes smelt of it when I got home which reflects how strong the smell was. The mattress was also very thin and my partner found the bed difficult to sleep on. These two things spoilt a lovely apartment

A well situated property for exploring Northumbria, spacious, very clean and well maintained. It overlooks the pub beer garden which caused us some concern but despite our stay coinciding with a very warm dry bank Holiday, once inside the flat, there was no noise and the beer garden seemed to empty by 9p.m. The flat is well equipped with all the domestic appliances you need and comfortable furnishings. The only criticism I have is that, although there is plenty of information provided, it is not necessarily consistent. There seemed to be 3 different versions of what to do when leaving. If we were to visit Northumberland again, Rivershield Cottage would be top of our list to book.
We have stayed here a few times now, the apartment is spotless, wellequipped and ideally situated. The owners can't do enough for you. Looking forward to going back as soon as we can
We were very pleased with the flat which was the best equipped self catering property that we have stayed in. Just a couple of thing to point out. We think it should be made clearer that the property doesn't have a designated parking place and the bed could have a firmer mattress. We woke up with aches and pains in the morning which we didn't have at the other places we stayed at on our trip. However that could be due to our advancing years! We really enjoyed our stay and Warkworth is as beautiful as we remember it.
Excellent property. Very well equipped and comfortable beds. Parking was only slight issue especially for unloading and loading the car. We had a fab holiday and would highly recommend this property. Thank you
Excellent property, well equipped, its our 3rd stay
Great apartment, well furnished and cosy, had everything we needed for our stay. Within easy reach of everything in Warkworth and only a short drive to three fantastic beaches. Would definatley stay again
Fantastic apartment. Very clean and well maintained. Lovely base to explore the area. We spent 2 weeks here and it was a home from home. The apartment is fully kitted out for a short stay or longer stay like ours. The owners were friendly and helpful. If we want to stay in Warkworth, we&39d definitely stay here again.
Wow, this was some property! The flat was extremely well and beautifully furnished everything had been thought of and provided. Well equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed and sofas. Would we return, yes! We&39ve already booked for another stay later this summer!!! Excellent
