Orchard Lodge Reviews

Rebecca
Excellent amenities and great communication from host Mark, we will be back! We had a wonderful stay, thank you, a little piece of heaven
Elizabeth
Enjoyed staying in the lodge. It was a lovely location and we appreciated the outdoor space. Sat by the clematis every morning with a cup of tea. The conservatory was popular for reading and playing games. The hare came to visit in the evening. Some of the furnishings are a little dated but we had everything we needed and it was a relaxed and very enjoyable stay. The Northumberland coast is beautiful with great beaches and wildlife. We enjoyed trips to Alnwick, Holy Island, and Wallington National Trust. Warkworth and Alnmouth beaches were great for the kids. Amble and the pubs in Warkworth were good for meals. The market in Amble in a Sunday is worth a visit and local food on sale at the pods. And we had a great boat trip with Kevin to Coquet Island. Also had a day on Lindisfarne which is very special. A place to revisit. Thank you
The location was brilliant, peaceful surroundings, easy for exploring everything Northumblerland has to offer. The lodge itself is a nice size and well equipped. However, the mattresses were the most unformfortable we've ever stayed on. The main sofa just sank.. The table was 'sticky'. The dishwasher didn't clean effectively once while we were then and then refused to clean at all. It clearly hasn't worked well for a while since most of the glasses and cutlery were unclean when we arrived. The owner was apologetic and did call for an engineer but unfortunately they were unable to come before we left. The kitchen was otherwise well equipped, though some items were broken and in need of replacement. Sykes need to make clear on each listing what the situation is re. Cleaning. We would never willingly chose a place which expects you to clean, rather than just tidy on the last day of your holiday. That along with the dishwasher being broken meant a lot of cleaning on holiday, which we wouldn't have chosen to do. This place could be a 5 with a bit of tlc and replacing some of the essentials with more comfortable items.

Thank you for a fabulous stay. The lodge was excellently laid out which helped Mr. Wall to negotiate his way around the property he is blind The kitchen was extremely well equipped and everywhere very clean. Key instructions superb. A gorgeous setting and so well located...we didn't really want to leave!
The property was very well equipped. It was light and airy with very comfortable beds. It was clean enough. The gardens were a delight and obviously well cared for. It was quiet and we had no issues with neighbours. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The owners' attention to detail was first class and when contacted for the key was offered advice on how to operate the radiators which was much easier than trying to find out after arriving and going through the property folder. we would like to thank the owners by telephone, if he would care to call us at their convenience to expand on our feedback. Many thanks for providing us with an excellent base to explore a wonderful coastline.
Michelle
Beautiful surroundings and gardens, lodge was really comfortable, clean and airy. Everything you needed was supplied and we had the best stay. Cant wait to go again.
Cheryl
Lodge was lovely. Only issue we had was that tumble dryer didn't work and we had lots of wet clothing due to weather. Property owner checked it and assured us it worked. Although it operated, there was no heat. Everything else was very good.
IDEALY SITUATED, HAD EVERYTHING TO ENABLE US TO HAVE A COMFORTABLE AND RELAXING STAY, LOVELY AND SPACIOUS. WE DID HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WASHING MACHINE BUT VERY EASILY RESOLVED AND EASY TO GET HOLD OF THE OWNER TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM .PROMTLY. WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COTTAGE TO ANYONE..
We had a lovely holiday in this bright, airy lodge. The open plan living space was lovely and the bedrooms were comfortable. The grounds and gardens were very well kept and backed directly onto fields with access to a footpath for evening walks. Nice views of the sea from the cosy conservatory. All in all, a well equipped, comfortable and modern base to explore this gorgeous area of the country. The amazing sandy beach at Warkworth is only a ten minute drive with free parking and there are loads of other attractions within a few miles. But the lodge is so lovely, you might just want to stay there and chill out!
Andrew
This was a very comfortable property in peaceful surroundings. We were amazed to have hares regularly visiting the garden ! There were plenty of interesting places to visit in the area.
The accommodation was exactly as expected and the owners were extremely helpful. We needed a cot for our grandson. On the day we arrived the owners discovered the cot was broken and went out of there way to ensure the got the missing part. Plenty of room for the wee one to run around. A nice break away from home for everyone.
This was a very comfortable lodge in a beautiful location. It was well provided with oven ware and crockery. It mentions a sea view in the description which is actually only visible when you lean over the fence at the bottom of the garden. The countryside views are wonderful however. The garden is described as private but it is not fenced off and open to the parking area and driveway, which could cause a problem for those with young children and is not somewhere to sit for breakfast etc. I have also never been asked to strip the beds before I leave a Sykes property before which wasn't a problem but surely part of the owners cleaning routine before the next guests arrive. Having said that it wouldn't stop me from booking this lodge again if we revisit Northumberland.
Very well equipped and in a lovely setting. The garden area was brilliant for children and the viewed to the castle and sea where lovely. A very peaceful place with a huge amount of places to visit nearby.
Rachael
The cottage itself was in the perfect location for what we wanted in terms of rural setting and ease of exploring te area. The problem with this cottage was the inaccurate representation of the standard of the cottage, and the huge failure in not mentioning that this was a smoking cottage I, along with my young son age 2 have severe asthma and both had issues throughout the holiday with the unground smell especially in the lounge of stale smoke. On the Thursday night 2nd Nov my asthma was so bad we decided to pack up and head home. On top of this the cleanliness of the lodge left a lot to be desired, along with the rubdown quality of all the furnishings the curtains in the main lounge area were disgraceful. To add insult to injury, we looked at our friends lodge who paid exactly the same price as us, to see there's was a much higher calibre, well maintained and very clean. Overall a very disappointing experience with the only redeeming feature being the locality.
Very well equipped Cottage in an excellent location for exploring the many sights Northumberland has to offer
