As our second visit, we can highly recommend this spotlessly clean, comfortable and warm cottage. It is in an ideal position, less than a mile from the coast, and also within easy reach of all the popular tourist areas.

Lovely accommodation 5 minutes away from coast and bird reserves. Nice little touches like the chocolates, bird feeder at the window. Warm and welcoming
Been to this cottage every year for at least 10 years love it. Wi Fi a bit dodgy at times but plenty lovely places to visit and a 5 min drive to the lovely beach. Owners perfect. Very friendly and there if you need them but leave me alone as it's my retreat. Will be back. x
Bracken Barn Cottage is a spaciously cosy, comfortable, and clean holiday accommodation the owners have taken great care in providing everything needed for a carefree stay, with nothing lacking for convenience and relaxation, inside and out. Sue & John, the friendly owners are on hand to provide a warm welcome, and are readily available to help whilst respecting your privacy throughout your stay. It really is as good as it gets. Widdrington is a superb basis for a holiday in the southern half of Northumberland a quiet location, close to the glorious Druridge Bay beach and nature reserve 40 minutes walk from the cottage, or 2 mins by car and within short travelling distances of the lovely harbour town of Amble, Alnwick, the coastal towns of Blyth, Whitley Bay, Seahouses, & Newbiggin, Castles, historic houses, and museums aplenty not forgetting the Widdrington Inn, just a couple of minutes stroll from the cottage superb food, and a fine range of beers and spirits. I thoroughly enjoyed my fortnight's stay here, and fully intend to make Bracken Barn Cottage my base for a future Northumberland holiday before long. Looking forward to it already!
A quiet comfortable house with everything we needed. Although close to a public house there was no noise. Plenty of things to do in the area.
Welcomed by the owners on arrival and given relevant info about the cottage. Tea coffee and biscuits in the cottage so we could have drink straight away. It's situated in a quiet location but only 2 mins walk from the bus coastal bus route.Ideal for doing coastal walks and visiting other places. Outside seating areas, one over looking a field and long distance views.Local pub 2 mins walk made excellent meals.Well equipment and well maintained cottage. We d definitely return here. Thank you
Property was immaculate, facilities A1, owners very approachable making it a excellent place to explore this beautiful part of the country.
We have just returned home from our holiday at Bracken Barn Cottage and can say that we thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage was superb and provided everything we needed for our holiday. The owners Sue & John made us welcome and provided us with information regarding the area. We would like to say many thanks to the owners and we will return at some point in the future.
Delightful little cottage, well positioned for cycling and walking along the coast.
Excellent and enjoyable stay one again.
Beautiful cottage, great host, good location and quiet Would recommend
Sue and John gave us a wonderful welcome thank you for the treats! . The cottage is beautifully presented and maintained. It has everything you would need for a selfcatering break in a beautiful area of the country. The beaches are unsurpassed, clean white sand. We visited Alnwick castle, Warkworth Castle, Cragside and Wallington, all within 45 minutes drive. The Widdrington Inn is just around the corner, very handy for tasty, well cooked food and a refreshing drink after a long day out. Wonderful!

Thank you for a great stay in your cottage and for the biscuits and Prosecco. In walking distance of Druridge bays beautiful golden sandy beach. Country park nearby. Quiet roads give quick access to Alnwick and the entire Northumberland coast. Highly recommended.
Jackie
Sue and John have obviously put a lot of thought into this cottage and it shows. Everything you could possibly need is here from an iron to an air fryer. Comfortable bed and sofa made relaxing very easy. Sue even gave us some carrots for the horses in the adjoining field! Would have no hesitation whatsoever in highly recommending this accommodation

We stayed at Bracken Barn Cottage over the Christmas period. The property was lovely and bigger inside than what it looked from the outside. There was everything we need and it was lovely and cosy inside, if we needed anything we just needed to ask Sue it wasn't a problem. The welcome pack was fantastic we have never had one like it full of goodies. We will definitely be back the cottage was a fantastic base for the coast and Morpeth.
Melvyn
We had a lovely stay at bracken cottage. A warm welcome from the owners, with a nice welcome pack included. Sue and John have done a great job renovating the building onto a surprisingly spacious and comfortable cottage for two. We both found the bed extremely comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay, except a colander which would be handy. I didn't particularly like the cutlery, flat pressed steel knives and forks let the rest of the equipment Down, but that is just a small niggle. The views from the window overlooking the fields was great, plenty of birds, and two horses to watch. All in all a smashing stay and would fully recommend l.
Barbara
Bracken Barn Cottage is a lovely comfortable and cosy base to explore the local area. It has everything for a relaxed break and the owners couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome.
No problems my 11h ish visit.
Leslie

Situated next to the owners property its within driving distance from the Northumberland coast ,There's a train station in Alnmouth which serves the ECML about a 20 min drive away . Very cosy place ,quiet with views overlooking fields .Well recommended.
Lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful hosts. Would highly recommend this cottage.
Jeremy
This was a lovely cottage and the friendly owners were on hand if we needed to know anything and were very good at recommending places to see. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable and well situated for fabulous views and great historical venues. The coast here is breathtakingly beautiful and is only a few moments away in the car!
Malcolm
We had a lovely stay at the cottage, it was situated in a superb location making it very easy to access the local sites around the area. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed, Sue was so accommodating and was super friendly we could not fault our stay and we had one of our best holidays ever
The nicest cottage we have ever stayed in and there have been a few! Lovely, beautifully furnished, well equipped cottage, overlooking the fields and owners garden which, like the cottage, was immaculately maintained. Easy private parking, two minutes walk to a great pub which served excellent food. We felt comfortable from the minute we arrived and met Sue and John, the owners. Within easy reach of the beautiful Northumbrian coastal resorts. If, like my husband, WiFi is essential for you, even on holiday, this was a bit slow and I could not get it at all. Perhaps an extender may help. But please do not let that deter you from booking this wonderful venue.
Robert
Hosts were great in every respect! Lovely cottage in a lovely location. We would definitely recommend it.
Lovely place to stay. Very peaceful, despite being right next door to the pub, which is handy for drinks and nice meals and snacks. Owners very friendly and helpful. Cottage and grounds beautifully kept. An all round good base for lots of places to visit, and on a reliable bus route too. Would definitely recommend.
We enjoyed our stay at Brackenbarn Cottage. The cottage is comfortable, clean and wellequipped. We loved the peace, watching the birds and horses from the window. The pub nearby served some great meals. The owners were friendly and helpful. It is well placed to visit Alnwick and Bamburgh or down to Tynemouth and Newcastle.
Barbara
Sue and John were great hosts. Will definitely go back again.
Christine
My second visit to Bracken Barn Cottage and once again I had a great holiday in very comfortable and well equipped accommodation. A big thank you to Sue and John for making me feel so welcome. This cottage is in a good location for visiting the beautiful Northumberland coast and I highly recommend it.
This cottage is ideal for a couple equipped with everything you need. Sue and john are a lovely couple who are there for you if Needed . The pub next door serves fabulous food we ate there every night and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this cottage and will be back its 5 stars from us .
Great holiday as usual beautiful cottage in beautiful gardens. Sue and John lovely owners. Widdrington Inn very close for great pub food. In a great area for exploring Northumberland.
Sharon
Lovely location, nearby pub with good food, the cottage was exactly what we expected. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly.
Lovely property, peaceful and well set up , sue and John very helpful, had left plenty of local information in the cottage also some bird feed to feed the birds . .. delightful. Would highly recommend as we had a very good stay there , geographic location is excellent for local attractions from Julie and pete
John and Sue were very welcoming hosts. The property itself was lovely, having a modern feel and was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is positioned within easy reach of some lovely places to visit, and the local pub has fantastic food. Will definitely be back some time.
This is a delightful cottage in a quiet, traffic free location. Perfect for the two of us and an ideal location for walking, birdwatching and cycling. It was our second stay here and we found it cosy and comfortable with an excellent pub just two minutes walk down the road. There is a handy Park Run nearby at the Druridge Bay Country Park!
Really comfortable holiday cottage. It has everything you need and the bed is really comfy too. Close to the beach and bird life, extremely quiet at night, very peaceful. Lovely setting.
We loved everything about the stay. The very comfortable cottage with it's nautical theme, which was easy to keep cosy in the cool weather. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The pub just out the gate and a minute down the road served great food. It was lovely and relaxing to sit in the window and watch the sheep, lambs, ponies in the adjacent field. We could not fault our stay and will be booking again in the future.
Melissa
Where can I start. This property is perfect for a romantic get away. This is the perfect location, right next to a pub that serves great beer, great food, but for those not into that kind of stuff, it is near a bus stop. Where you can explore the wonderful areas of Northumberland, Sue & John are the perfect hosts, they catered to our needs, offered helpful advice on exploring and were very helpful for when we needed to talk to them. They both are very down to earth and treated us with respect. The cottage itself, upon arrival, it was very clean, not any dust in sight, and it smelled very fresh! It was kitted out with everything we needed, but I also liked the extras, the bird feeder, where you can see all the birds eat out, throughout the day. Seeing all the beautiful pheasants and horses run around in the field! The bed, was very comfy, and we had good night sleeps on it. The exterior, it had an amazing patio where you can just sit and chill, which would be perfect in the summer! We had the best holiday here, and I honestly would stay here again. The price is very reasonable, I am very surprised I managed to book this holiday for the price I did, because this cottage was a absolute gem. We will definitely be returning in the future.
An ideal location to explore Northumberland and its stunning scenery. Although just off the tourist route it is very accessible. The owners who live on site are very friendly and welcoming. The Xmas welcome hamper and festive decorations were a complete surprise. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and will certainly try to return again.
