Lovely property in a beautiful location. However property needs a good clean, many cobwebs and dust and dirty windows. Bathroom toilet leaked from the waste pipe when flushed, and was only repaired on the Friday evening before we vacated the property the next day. Insufficient egg cups, teaspoons ad glasses in the kitchen. Lounge seating would be pretty squashed for 6 people. Blinds are needed in the wet room and especially the upstairs bathroom as scaffolding on the adjacent property is visible from that window. Information needs to be left regarding rubbish bins and recycling. This information is meant to be constructive for the owners to act on and improve the property. We really enjoyed our stay and it was just very unfortunate for us that we had the issue with the toilet.
We love coming to this cottage
Melanie
Lovely location, close to the beach and the local nature reserve. Its also an easy walk into Amble to enjoy the amenities. The house is spacious and the sun room provides plenty of room for everyone.
Madelon
Really lovely cottage Only down is that the second bathroom is downstairs.
Elizabeth
This is the second time in this house. We really like the quiet location so close to the beautiful beach, yet also close enough to Amble and facilities. It is a good area to explore the coast. The house itself is spacious and comfortable with 2 great showers and a well equipped kitchen. It was clean on our arrival and had everything we needed

A few small issues, loose toilet seats, upstairs sink not emptying properly, loose tap,the owner did come and look,he will put things right before the next people come,it didnt affect us much, the property was spacious and very nice, comfortable
Excellent situation, comfortable and with generally good facilities and equipment. Weve already booked to return next year.
We had a great stay at this lovely home. We have stayed in Low Hauxley several times before but it was our first time staying in this house. Really great with lots of space, clean and comfy and in a great location. We would stay again, thank you very much!
Daniel
A lovely property in a fantastic location, with a sandy beach literally two minutes away. Well located for trips to notable locations in the area Alnwick, Seahouses & Lindisfarne to name just a few.
Maureen
Clean roomy comfortable peaceful well presented an idyllic retreat. Small problem with ant infestation from wall in the kitchen but husband dealt with it.
Gillian
Lovely house and lovely position. We were very comfortable over the week. Good kitchen Good bedrooms Loved the sun room A bit noisy because of lack of carpets so creeping about in socks in the morning. Television pretty awful but IPlayer fine. Inundated with flies but probably the time of year. Big thanks for a nice time and the use of your lovely house
This was a perfectly nice cottage, well maintained and clean. Although very close to the sea, the sea view was only from the bedroom window as there was a small dune system beyond the cottage. Although the climb up and down to the beach was too challenging for uswere old!, Im sure families either children would not have difficulties. Like others, we enjoyed the tea and coffee on arrival, but the lack of milk was a little surprising.
Had a problem on Saturday of arrival, rang housekeeper & owner came over, couldn't sort but brought us an alternative. One thing we did find on stripping beds on the last morning was that none of them had mattress protectors on,which we found rather unusual don't mean the waterproof ones ! One thing that did amuse me was on arrival there was a tray with tea, coffee biscuits, teapot & milk jug but no milk!!
Just a few little issues e. G. the door into the hallway sticks as the handles don't open it properly there's no plug hole near the mirror in the main bedroom to enable you to dry your hair the neighbour was a bit grumpy But this wouldn't stop me recommending the property. Its in a super position and very homely, love it.
We had a lovely stay . cottage was great we definitely be back
Our 2nd stay in this lovely cottage, fabulous location, very warm and cosy, comfy beds and duvets, lots of space, and so peaceful. Sadly on this visit, we had to let Tanya the housekeeper know on the first day when she texted us to check everything was ok, that the floors were dirty, within a few hours of arriving our socks were filthy from walking on the floors. Tanya arranged to have them re mopped on the Monday which was a lot better. We think that one of the issues which didnt help was the main mat near the kitchen door needed a good clean and dirt was being walked through. New frying pans are needed as the non stick coating was coming off, so we couldnt use those, the oven needs cleaning as previous guests had obviously spilt fat. We knew the log burner was out of action before we arrived after reading previous feedback, due to a problem with the flue, we were very disappointed that Sykes had not let us know this before hand as apparently the owners had let Sykes know so they could advise guests. This was poor customer service from Sykes, but it didnt spoil our week as the heating was great, the cottage was always so warm and cosy.
Madelon
King size bed needs a new mattress. I had significant backache by the morning. Would benefit from a higher quality duvet a pillows. Perhaps rugs upstairs and a runner on the stairs. Only one bathroom upstairs would be a problem if the house were full. There were only two of us this time.
Carole
Book our stay for 2 main reasons 1. Close proximity to the sea perfect could hear the waves at night and enjoyed lots of beach walks. 2. An opportunity to cosy up in front of a log burner informed shortly before departure that log burner was out of order, very disappointed. Property was spacious and functional. Found Sykes customer service difficult to navigate.

In a gorgeous location, a very short walk on to the beach, you can find this lovely, spacious 3 bed cottage that provided us with a relaxing and memorable holiday. Beautifully clean, lovely warm heating and everything we needed to have a relaxing stay. A lovely welcome pack, introduced us to local coffee and tea. We took bacon rolls to the beach for breakfast and late night take away, gave mum the night off. As I get so hot at night, I would have liked a lower tog duvet, but only one small niggle. A really very enjoyable stay. Thank you.
Claire
We had a lovely stay in this spacious, warm and welcoming cottage. The beds are lovely and comfortable, as are the sofas. The house is in a lovely quiet location and enabled us to explore the area well. It was so nice to be able to walk along the coastal path and through the woods to Hauxley Nature Reserve. We also enjoyed a kayak expedition on the River Coquet and a delightful boat trip out to see the seals at Coquet Island. When we had a slight maintenance issue, we were very impressed by the speedy response from the owners, who addressed the problem on the same day.
Deborah
Perfect cottage for a family who love quiet beaches as we do the cottage was very comfortable with everything we needed downstairs wet room plus bathroom upstairs VERY useful and the location is fantastic less than 2 mins and you are on the beach. Feels beautifully remote but also has the advantage that Morrison's is only 5 mins away so dashing out for things we'd forgotten was no problem! Should just mention that one side of the cot was broken & wouldn't lock upright was OK for our baby but an older one could have climbed out fairly easily so not ideal
Rebecca
Great holiday home! Right next to the beach!. Nearby a lot of tourist attractions. Nature reserve just down the road. The only thing that the home would benefit from is possibly a tumble dryer. Apart from that we had an amazing stay!
The cottage is in a great location for the large open beaches, walking some of the coastal walks and exploring the local area. It is very clean, comfortable and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the extension which is light and airy. It is very quiet and we could hear the sea and the birds every morning. The small outside area just needs a bit of TLC to make it more inviting to use. I have already recommended it to my daughter as a good place for her family.
The house was lovely, but outside area was very basic.
This is a really lovely property and so very close to the beach which was why we chose it. It is very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, and the tiny village of Low Hauxley is very quiet. We enjoyed some lovely coastal walks to Amble which has some good places to eat. Also worth a visit is the Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre which is just a 5 minute walk away. They let you borrow binoculars too if you want to do some bird watching while you're there. There's also a lovely cafe at the centre. Just one small thing we couldn't open the velux window in the upstairs bathroom as it was too high, and couldn't find any extractor fan for ventilation so we just kept showers very brief to stop it getting too steamed up. All in all, though, a great place to stay for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.
A clean, warm, and comfortable cottage with just a short stroll to the beach. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and a few cleaning essentials was nice to see as we arrived. We had an issue with the upstairs shower, which was very rapidly sorted out by the owner. Some people have brought attention to the overgrown field at the back of the property. As wildlife enthusiasts, we loved this. Lots of birds and insects, plus the rabbits. Hauxley Nature Reserve is a nice short walk along the coastal path, and is well worth a visit. Especially the cafe, make sure to leave room for the scones, the best Ive ever eaten! Just a couple of things. It would have been much better to have mattress protectors on the beds. I was surprised not to have this, especially from a hygiene perspective. The duvets and pillows could do with an update too. Some new coasters and place mats would also make a difference. Overall being so close to the beautiful beach and view of Coquet Island is great making this cottage a good place to stay.
This is a wonderful property with every facility provided for a comfortable, cosy stay in the north east. We loved being able to walk straight from the door on the coastal path north and south and return to the warm, well equipped and spacious. house. It was beautifully clean and well maintained.
Valerie
Excellent location for all that we wanted to do. Love being able to have easy access to the beach and to walk to Amble. There is a good, comfortable space for socialising with friends and the kitchen has everything necessary for self catering accommodation. We had an issue with a broken bed which was immediately repaired and had no impact on our plans, so thank you very much for the prompt attention. We have already booked for September and are hopefully coming back next Spring.
Nicola
Beautiful cottage in a great location. We stayed in February and it was nice and warm in the house. We had a lovely stay thank you and will return!

Had a lovely week, the cottage was so peaceful and relaxing, lots of space, really clean, big fluffy towels, great showers, quality bedding etc etc, all the things that made it a real home from home by the sea for a wet week in December, We will definitely be returning next year when we need a battery recharge, thank you
House in lovely position, spacious and comfortable. Everything you need if cooking. Wet room really handy and underfloor heating a bonus. Nice walk along the coastal path. Easy to visit the small villages and Alnwick and Morpeth. We hope to return
Rachel
A fantastic property in a great location steps away from the beach, lots of local walks from the door and Alnwick, Rothbury etc a short drive away.
We have stayed in many many holiday cottages and this is up there with the best of them. Lovely and spacious for our family of five, well equipped kitchen, and a very comfortable and welcoming home. Perfect location wise for our family, literally a minute or twos short stroll to a lovely beach, which even our little 2 year old could happily toddle to every day. Lovely base to explore the local area, would hugely recommend the wildlife centre which is few minutes drive or walk along the beach away, and Amble which is a short drive away, with its little shops, boat trips and gorgeous icecream parlour! The cottage has a great wet room style shower downstairs in addition to shower upstairs, which was massively helpful to shower off kids and wetsuits after every beach trip. Would not hesitate to recommend this cottage, thanks for a fabulous start to our summer holidays!
Our family mum, dad and 4 kids loved their stay at this house. Easy property to find and nice, quiet location for us to relax and explore to local area. Lots of walking but wish we'd brought bikes. Great proximity to the beach and house which had everything we could have hoped for being away for a week. Only downfalls were outside tap not the greatest for desanding after the beach, beds could do with upgraded and view from conservatory very overgrown..... however feel this was a communal feel amongst all the properties in the row. We've all agreed we would definitely return
Alison
This is such a lovely cottage in a superb position close to the beach with lots of interesting places to visit and great places to eat in the vicinity. Well equipped with comfortable beds and beautiful views, all added up to a relaxing holiday for us. We loved being able to take our cup of tea down the short lane from the cottage to the bank above the sea to watch the birds and waves. Would highly recommend a stay here. It is a real gem.
Suzanne
We absolutely loved our stay here didn't want to leave! The location is so quiet and peaceful, a minute's walk away from the most beautiful beach. The cottage is so comfortable, cosy and warm. It was perfect for our family and we are already talking about a return visit. If you are thinking about booking this property, do it!
A warm, spacious accommodation in a quiet location and very close to the sea. Great base to visit surrounding areas of the coast. Loved walking along the beach most days. The sun room was ideal for relaxing and watching the wildlife. We encountered a slight problem whilst holidaying at Hauxley Links, reported late morning and the owners, Celia and her husband, couldn't do enough to help and the problem was rectified very promptly and efficiently. Thank you very much for looking after us.
Valerie
Comfortable, well presented accommodation in a superb location. The sun room was an added bonus and a really good spot for soaking up winter sunshine whilst watching the rabbits playing just by the window.
This was our second visit to this property. Lovely house in a great location right next to the coast. It is spacious, light and warm and we particularly liked sitting in the sun room. Lots of walks from the door. The only suggestion I have is that there is not enough equipment in the kitchen for self catering. More crockery and cutlery is needed, especially if you want to use the dishwasher. The plates and bowls provided are also very small. Other than that we hope to return.
Overall we had a lovely stay at the property, it was just what we needed as a family. The property is lovely with the sunroom being our favourite room
